In order for Carlton to progress under Brendan Bolton, they need to ensure that they are scoring more.
Although the Blues in previous seasons have been very good defensively, their inability to score is hindering their progression under Brendan Bolton.
Many experts see that once the Blues add attacking prowess to their game, the Blues will have all the pieces to start contending for the top eight.
Carlton dropped from second last in points for in 2016 to last in 2017, so their ability to score is a real worry.
With the emergence of Charlie Curnow last season and with key forward Harry McKay looking fit this preseason after turf toe sidelined him last season, Carlton's struggle to score might become a little easier.
Ruckman Mathew Kreuzer told SEN Radio, that kicking more goals was key to their success this season.
"We're just working on our attacking style a little bit," Kreuzer said.
"The last couple of years we've been good at the defence but we haven't been scoring enough, so we're just trying to find ways to tinker with that.
"I think we've got the players there to do that."
Kreuzer believes their current crop of young stars have provided Carlton with the right balance for the up and coming season. After investing heavily in the draft, Kreuzer heaped praise on the young players.
"It is very exciting to sit back at training and look at all the young kids getting around. The tricks they've got these days are pretty impressive," he added.
"The good thing is we've got a good balance of players with Charlie (Curnow) and Harry (McKay) up forward, 'Samo' (Sam Petrevski-Seton) in the middle, and Paddy Dow and Lochie O'Brien this year are going to really help us too."
Carlton hope to show off some of their young talents in their AFLX campaign on February 16 at Etihad Stadium.
