Melbourne's ruck crisis has gone from bad to worse, with AFL journalist Tom Browne reporting that Braydon Preuss has gone down at training.

Browne reports that Preuss left the club's training session at the Sunshine Coast this morning "annoyed" and is not participating in contact match simulation or rehab.

If Preuss is injured it would be a major blow for the Demons, with Max Gawn (shoulder/knee) in doubt to play this week and Luke Jackson (hamstring) expected to be sidelined for a few weeks.

Preuss filled in admirably as the No. 1 ruck in Saturday's win over Collingwood, accumulating 12 disposals and 24 hitouts and keeping Brodie Grundy honest.

Melbourne will be searching for their fourth-straight win when they face the Western Bulldogs at Metricon Stadium on Saturday at 1.45pm AEST.
