The AFL have confirmed Week 1 of the AFLW finals, however, a clash with the opening round of the men's season has been called out.
The two qualifying finals in Week 1 of the AFLW will see the Brisbane Lions take on the Collingwood Magpies, before the North Melbourne Kangaroos clash with the Fremantle Dockers.
Both games are set for Saturday afternoon, with the North Melbourne vs Fremantle clash first at 2:10pm (AEDT), followed by the Brisbane vs Collingwood match two hours later.
North Melbourne will host the first game at Arden Street Oval, before the Lions play host to the later clash at the Gabba.
The men's season, which gets underway on Wednesday evening, and will have games on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week however, has three matches scheduled for Saturday without any of them clashing. Geelong will play Essendon at 2:10pm, the Giants will play the Swans at 5:10pm and the Lions will take on Port Adelaide at 8:10pm.
Sunday in the men's competition then sees Hawthorn play North Melbourne at 1:10pm, Adelaide take on Fremantle at 4:10pm and the West Coast play the Gold Coast at 7:40pm.
With no games being scheduled to run at the same time as another in the men's competition, the women's competition was left with virtually no free space for the coming weekend, meaning the finals are now clashing with the men's competition in a move which has been lambasted on social media.
The AFLW finals for Week 2 are yet to be confirmed, however, the winner of the Brisbane and Collingwood clash will play the Melbourne Demons, while the winner of the Kangaroos and Dockers will face the Adelaide Crows, likely in Adelaide.
The winners of tbhose two clashes will then play the grand final, with the higher ranked team to host the match.
