The AFLW 22Under22 team was released on Tuesday, with 10 players named in the side for the first time.

The Lions and Suns had the equal-most representatives, with each having three players snapping up spots in the team.

Star Richmond midfielder Monique Conti was awarded captaincy honours, while Carlton standout Madison Prespakis received the vice-captain mantle.

Conti, Prespakis, Georgia Gee and Alyce Parker were each named for the third time.

Charlie Rowbottom and Georgie Prespakis, Pick 1 and 2 respectively in last year's draft, both made the side in their first season, while Eloise Jones, Tahlia Hickie, Ellie Hampson, Claudia Whitfort, Tarni White, Isabelle Pritchard, Shelley Heath and Lauren Butler each made their first appearance in the team.

The AFLW preliminary finals are set to take place this weekend in the form of a Saturday afternoon doubleheader, with Melbourne-Brisbane to commence at 12:40pm at Casey Fields and Adelaide-Fremantle to kick off at 2:40pm at Norwood Oval.
