Brodie Grundy's future at the Pies has been clouded in doubt despite being in the midst of a seven-year deal to remain in black and white.

Grundy has only played six games for Collingwood this year due to a PCL injury, but has had his future speculated on as duo Mason Cox and Darcy Cameron continue to perform admirably in his absence.

The 28-year-old signed a mega contract in 2020, committing to the club until the conclusion of the 2027 season, a deal reportedly worth around $7 million.

Though Grundy is expected to return for Collingwood from injury in the coming weeks, whether that be through the VFL or AFL, one former AFL star indicated on Triple M that the ruckman will be playing elsewhere next season.

“My mail from a number of sources now is that he will not be at Collingwood next year,” former Lions skipper Tom Rockliff said.

“They’re happy to part ways with him. GWS has been floated, my understanding is he wants to stay in Melbourne, but is there a pull to get him back to South Australia as well?

“We know Port Adelaide have had their struggles in the ruck department this year with (Scott) Lycett out of the team ... Brodie Grundy is a potential suitor to come home as well."

Grundy has played 117 games in his career, all for Collingwood, and has picked up numerous accolades during his time at the club including two best and fairest awards.

Collingwood are currently on a seven match winning streak and look primed for a strong finals campaign, but will have to contend with the Grundy question come seasons end.
