Demons forward Mitch Hannan has requested a trade to the Western Bulldogs, according to The Age's Peter Ryan.

Hannan, 26, is out-of-contract and has links to the Bulldogs as a member of Footscray’s 2016 VFL premiership team.

It is understood that Melbourne made an offer to Hannan but were aware that he was weighing up his options.

Ryan reported earlier this month that the Bulldogs were circling Hannan as they look to retool their dysfunctional forward line.

The Dogs reportedly believe Hannan is capable of playing as both a lead up player and crumbing forward.

The former mature age recruit has played 50 games for Melbourne after making his AFL debut in 2017.

After making 35 senior appearances in his first two years at the club, Hannan has since fallen out of favour of Simon Goodwin's side.

The AFL trade period runs from November 4-12.
