Collingwood are eyeing Blues youngster Lochie O'Brien, according to 7 News' Tom Browne.

However, the Pies' interest is reportedly linked to young gun Jaidyn Stephenson's potential move to North Melbourne.

Stephenson's future is up in the air as Collingwood try to manage their tight salary cap - with the 21-year old reportedly privately signing a lucrative extension last year until 2023 worth nearly $600,000 a season.

The goalsneak met with the Kangaroos, who have reportedly committed to getting him to the club as Stephenson now weighs up his options.

Stephenson is one of many Pies involved in trade talks, with Adam Treloar, Tom Phillips and Mason Cox also linked to moves.

The Blues have been busy players during the trade period, signing Zac Williams as a free agent and acquiring Adam Saad and Lachlan Fogarty from Essendon and Geelong respectively.

It creates more pressure for spots at Ikon Park, potentially opening the door for O'Brien to explore a move elsewhere.

The former pick 10 of the 2017 AFL draft has played 36 AFL games.

He struggled for senior opportunities in 2020, making just one appearance at the top level.

The AFL trade period ends on Thursday night at 7.30pm AEST.
