Adam Cerra has narrowed down his playing future to just two teams with a decision to be made possibly within the next two weeks.
Tom Morrisย is reporting that Cerra will either stay at Fremantle or request a trade to Carlton.
The Blues currently hold pick 6 in the draft and it's expected Fremantle will ask for at least that i return for the 21-year-old. Morris is reporting that Cerra is awaiting for a clearer indication of the future for the Blues before making a decision.
"He does not want to commit to a club when he does not know who will be coaching them in 2022," Morris wrote.
The Victorian midfielder will earn around $700,000-$750,000 if he stays at Fremantle meaning the Blues would likely have to match that price to help convince him to return home.
The Blues have spent big in recent years with the likes of Zac Williams and Adam Saad coming in on big money while Harry McKay re-signed for a reported figure around $800k per season and Patrick Cripps re-signed on less than he could have but still an eye-watering amount of money.
Morris is reporting that Sam Petrevski-Seton looms as a possible asset the blues could trade out with the Dockers open to the idea of welcoming the skilful Western Australian a return home.
Petrevski-Seton isn't actively seeking a return home but his time at the Blues has failed to reach the heights many expected with the former pick 5 spending a fair amount of time in the VFL this season after a failed stint in the back pocket.
Morris also mentioned Paddy Dow, Jack Silvagni and Will Setterfield as trade bait. However, Silvagni is close to putting pen-to-paper on a new two-year deal while Dow is having his best patch of form in his career since coming back into the side.
