Zak Butters has chosen the Western Bulldogs as his preferred destination for 2026.
According to a report by AFL media on Saturday morning, the three-time All-Australian has made the contract call with all parties aware.
Butters' decision has been one of the biggest talking points of the year, with Geelong viewed as the most recent frontrunners for the star midfielder.
The Dogs offer is set to be close to $2 million per season on nine years.
It will take Butters through until he is 35, with the approximately $18 million he is expected to receive the biggest deal in league history.
The news comes on the back of Geelong's season coming to a close with a semi final loss to Fremantle on Friday night.
The deal is the most significant in the club's history.
Western Bulldogs were viewed as the earlier frontrunners before Geelong, Richmond and briefly Collingwood all came to the table.
It comes after he told Port Adelaide of his intention to exercise his restricted free agency and return to Victoria next season following 156 games of service since being drafted with Pick 12 in the 2018 AFL National Draft.
The Dogs are also likely to be in the market for a key defender and recently secured the re-signings of Arty Jones and Buku Khamis who courted interest from elsewhere.
