Production is already underway on a 'Michael Jordan' style documentary about the life of Richmond superstar Dustin Martin.

According to Inside Film Magazine, Martin's story will be told by Richard Lowenstein's Ghost Pictures alongside independent producer Mark Fennessy.

"It will be a fascinating story; the treatment reads beautifully," Lowenstein told Inside Film Magazine.

Martin's father Shane is believed to feature heavily within the documentary's storyline.

Last year, Lowenstein and Fennessy worked together on a documentary called Mystify: Michael Hutchence.

Screen Australia is providing developmental funding to the Martin documentary, with the project set to be call 'Gold Dust'.
