The AFL has announced that general admission and family tickets to matches at the MCG and Marvel Stadium will remain at the same price as the 2024 season.
The price freeze is not something that is new to the AFL, with the cost of a ticket having stayed the same for seven consecutive years. Since 2019, the price of a ticket to the footy has been $54 for a family (two adults and two kids), $27 for adults, $18 for concessions and $5 for juniors (14 and under), while kids under four remain free.
The price of goods and services has increased significantly since 2019, but this move from the AFL ensures the game is still accessible to fans. Over 7.7 million people went through the gates during the 2024 home and away season as the AFL saw its most attended year on record.
AFL CEO Andrew Dillon says he is proud to keep the game affordable so fans can enjoy the sport.
"The AFL is proud to continue to freeze prices for general admission and family tickets for the seventh consecutive year," he said.
"On any given weekend there could be 4-5 matches in Victoria, and we understand the cost-of-living pressures across every household and every business, which is why we are committed to ensuring as many people as possible can enjoy the excitement of our game firsthand.
"We have the best fans in the world, and with record breaking attendance figures last year and a great take up of tickets for next week's Indigenous All-Stars match in Perth, and next month's Opening Round and Gather Round matches, we're excited to see the return of full stadiums again in 2025."
Season 2025 will see 89 games played across the two Melbourne venues, with 47 matches at the MCG and 42 matches Marvel Stadium.
