1. Adelaide (-)

Ladder position: 1st

In one of the most anticipated Showdown's in recent memory, Adelaide put the Power to the sword on Sunday night, and smashed them from pillar to post. The win has almost guaranteed the minor premiership for the Crows, and it looks like two home finals could see them book a spot in the decider.

2. Sydney (-)

Ladder position: 6th

After falling to Hawthorn last weekend, the Swans looked to bounce back strong, and they did just that. A seven-goal first quarter against Geelong set the tone, and their strong percentage should see them lock down a finals berth, and possibly even a top four finish.

3. Richmond (+1)

Ladder position: 3rd

No Jack Riewoldt, no problem. Against an in-form Hawthorn side, the Tigers shut them down early and dominated the game. Richmond are now just 3.3% behind the Giants in second, is a top two spot on the cards?

4. GWS (+1)

Ladder position: 2nd

One of their best performances of the season. They conceded the first three goals to the Demons on Saturday afternoon, but responded with the next eight and didn't look like giving that lead up. They'll be looking for a top two spot as well.

5. Geelong (-2)

Ladder position: 4th

The Cats hung in the game for the first half despite missing Patrick Dangerfield through suspension, but when Joel Selwood went down their hopes went with him. The captain will miss the next three matches at least, and Geelong will be hoping they can hang onto a top four spot in his absence.

6. Western Bulldogs (+3)

Ladder position: 7th

Four wins on the bounce has the Bulldogs now one win inside the top eight, and it seems as though they've hit their straps at the right time. Jason Johannisen missed the game through injury, but Easton Wood's hamstring problem is the biggest of their worries, as the premiership captain may not play again this season.

7. Melbourne (-1)

Ladder position: 10th

Up against one of the competition's better sides, the Demons just struggled to match it with GWS in Canberra on Saturday. Giving up eight goals in the first quarter put Melbourne behind the 8-ball, and they've now slipped all the way back to 10th.

8. Port Adelaide (-1)

Ladder position: 5th

Yet another failed challenge against a top eight side. The Power kicked just one goal to half-time, and had Adelaide converted their chances better (finished 18.22), the margin could have been well over 100 points.

9. Essendon (+2)

Ladder position: 8th

It wasn't that pretty, but the Bombers got the result they were after. An eight-point win saw Essendon finish the round inside the top eight, although they face a massive test in the Crows this Saturday night.

10. West Coast (-2)

Ladder position: 9th

It was a massive game for the Eagles, but they failed to turn up once again in Melbourne, falling short of the Saints at Etihad Stadium. They're currently in a logjam for eighth spot, and are just 3% off the pace.

11. St Kilda (+1)

Ladder position: 11th

The win keeps their faint September hopes alive, the thing holding St Kilda back however is their poor percentage. With four teams all on 10 wins, the Saints have a percentage of 97.3%, which is 10% below Essendon in eighth. They'll need a lot to go their way from here.

12. Hawthorn (-2)

Ladder position: 13th

After a strong recent run of form, the Hawks ran into a Richmond wall on Sunday, and they just couldn't match it with the Tigers. Two goals to half-time meant the Hawks never gave themselves a chance, and their poor kicking (9.10 with a few out-on-the-full efforts) didn't help either.

13. Collingwood (-)

Ladder position: 12th

Another win for the Pies. While all of these victories are coming just a bit too late in the season, it certainly does bode well for Nathan Buckley's future.

14. Carlton (-)

Ladder position: 17th

Carlton almost snapped their losing streak on Saturday against the Bombers, but it extended to seven matches without a win after falling just short. They had their chances, but just couldn't put Essendon away.

15. Fremantle (-)

Ladder position: 14th

They overturned a quarter-time deficit and led for the rest of the match following the first change, as the Dockers moved into 14th, two games clear of the bottom four.

16. Gold Coast (-)

Ladder position: 15th

The Suns have lost five in a row, and their losing run doesn't look like slowing down anytime soon. They are in some poor form.

17. Brisbane (+1)

Ladder position: 18th

Another very spirited effort from the Lions. They matched it with the Bulldogs for most of the afternoon on Saturday, but their lack of experience just failed them once again.

18. North Melbourne (-1)

Ladder position: 16th

It seems as though their win over Melbourne last weekend could be North's last hurrah this season. They were very average against the Pies.
