Adelaide has confirmed that the club will challenge the three-match suspension handed to Darcy Fogarty following his controversial hit on Friday night.
Fogarty's arm swung out to make contact with Sydney's Harry Cunningham, catching him around the head during the second quarter of their Round 19 clash. Cunningham then had to leave the ground due to concussion.
Post-match, both coaches were awaiting judgement from the MRO.
“I thought it was a tackle in the moment,” Crows coach Matthew Nicks said.
“I haven't watched it back, so that's one I won't comment on. I hope it's OK.”
Swans coach Dean Cox had a similar mentality.
“It was a high contact. That's probably about all,” Cox said.
“If there's any high collision or concussion from that, whether they look at it or not...I'll just make sure that the player's okay.”
The incident was graded as careless, high contact and severe impact and has resulted in a three match suspension for the star forward.
Fogarty now relies on a successful Tribunal challenge to get him back in the game before the Crows' penultimate game against Fremantle in R23. Otherwise, he will be forced to sit out Adelaide's upcoming matches against Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond.
A likely suspension comes at a rather inopportune time for the Crows spearhead, who has rediscovered his goalkicking boots in recent weeks.
Since Round 14 inclusive, the 26-year-old has kicked 18 majors, and just the solitary behind, with two hauls of four goals and one bag of five the highlights of a run of form that has coincided with his side's re-emergence as a genuine premiership fancy.
