Welcome to Craft of the Draft's first AFL Mock Draft for 2026, featuring a total of 18 selections, matched bids, and trades through to the end of the first round of the draft.

The AFL Draft Order currently has 20 selections in the opening round, with Essendon holding Pick 1. Anticipated bids on Academy and father-son prospects are set to see the order undergo significant change, with clubs that plan to match rival bids needing to use no more than their two earliest picks.

With several clubs potentially needing to increase their points totals to match early bids, two pre-draft trades were made to reflect those plans.

Pre-Draft Trades:
- Carlton trade Pick 18 + their 2027 1st round pick to Adelaide for Picks 15 and 32
- Brisbane trade Picks 27, 28 + a 2027 1st (tied to St Kilda) to Fremantle for Pick 19

Pick 17 - Adelaide: Jake Eime

15 Rank
Central District
Defender
Height: 182cm

It would be something of a fairy tale if Eime got to Adelaide after the Crows' bid to have him added to their Next Generation Academy was unsuccessful. Eime has Indigenous heritage, which the Crows did not know about until the last 12 months - too late for the Crows to get priority access for him at the draft.

But that does not mean they can't select him in the open pool. The club got a close look at him when he was training there during the year and playing SANFL senior footy, and while they're reasonably well stocked for half-backs on paper, Eime is a difference maker worth having a look at, and has the skillset which could also lend itself to playing on the wing.

Also Considered: Noah Williams, George Dimer

  1. I am not sure if this is real or a really bad troll attempt. Possibly the worst attempt at a draft ever.

To start, why would Adelaide do that trade with Carlton?

    Do better idiots.
