Brisbane's premiership has locked in the AFL Draft order for 2026.
The Lions will take Picks 18, 36, 46, 51 and 71 to the draft.
Pertinently, the first two picks total 1153 points.
The Lions have Academy talent Caylen Murray, who, after a standout National Championships as an electric running half-back, is viewed as a top 10 contender.
New rules introduced this year puts a 20 per cent tax on preliminary finalists.
That means those first two Picks, which are the only ones which will be used to match a bid for Murray, comes to 922 points.
Clubs are allowed to go into deficit to the tune of 412 points, and thus Brisbane ostensibly have 1334 points.
In effect, that means the Lions would be able to match a bid from Pick 10 onwards, as things stand, but no earlier.
That is viewed right on Murray's range, with some believing he could go as high as seven, while there is an outside chance he could slip just outside the top 10.
Therefore, how Brisbane look to improve their hand at the trade period will be an intriguing watch.
Meanwhile, Fremantle will take Picks 17, 35, 53 and 71 to the draft.
