Hawthorn and Essendon are among the AFL clubs that will have their 2027 draft plans in mind given the strength and emergence of a handful of their club-tied prospects.
The Hawks, who already have access to a promising duo in NGA talent Keenan Boi and father-son prospect Cooper Hodge for 2026, would have been left pleased by the output of linked pair Henry Allsop and Charlie Fischer, who represented Vic Country in an U17s trials clash with Queensland over the weekend.
Allsop flexed his aerial presence in defence, while Fischer turned heads at both ends of the ground in a split role to potentially further bolster Hawthorn's draft planning for the years to come.
Speaking on Craft of the Draft, analyst Jonty Ralphsmith lauded the performances of the Hawks NGA duo, who will add to a promising field of names linked to the Dingley-based club in the years to come.
"Maybe the prospect who most enhanced their stocks was Henry Allsop. Nine intercept marks he finished with. He was an absolute rock down back; nothing got through him. Hawthorn tied. Showed great toughness," Ralphsmith said on this week's episode of Craft of the Draft.
"Charlie Fischer as well. Spent the first half up forward, really competitive; his repeat efforts were really impressive. Then went back and was equally impressive. Won some contests and really looked to break the lines when he got the footy. He wasn't afraid to really take his opponent on and open up the game.
"So a couple for Hawks fans to keep an eye on... Then this year they've got Keenan Boi, who was quite strong at the champs, and Cooper Hodge if he chooses Hawthorn."
Essendon, too, have access to several leading 2027 prospects in father-son talent Koby Bewick and NGA pair Moustafa Darwish and Tevita Rodan, with the latter also linked to Port Adelaide as a father-son option.
While Bewick represented Vic Metro in the U18s over the weekend, Rodan and Darwish helped lead the representative side's U17s outfit to a win over NSW/ACT.
The Calder duo, combined with Cannons teammate Bewick, will form a significant part of Essendon's list planning in the years to come.
"They're both really strong contest players. 'Musty' Darwich has got leadership attributes and was the captain of Vic Metro on the day," Ralphsmith said of the Bombers-tied duo.
"They're both so clean. They've got similarities in the way they play. 'Musty's probably got a little bit more balance and outside power and run, and has shown that consistently.
"Tevita Rodan has got the ability to go forward and kick a goal. He's so crafty with the way he gets his disposal as he works so hard."
