And according to The Age, the league is considering a second trade window once list and salary cap numbers are finalised to help accommodate clubs and give a helping hand that may have seen some deals fall through with the uncertainty.
The second trade window would only be a small one, but would give clubs the opportunity to work in potential targets with more clarity on the list and salary cap sizes.
With clubs unaware of the list and salary cap cuts for much of the trade period, The Age reported that list sizes will be cut to a maximum of 44 and a minimum of 37, while the salary cap could be cut between nine and ten percent.
With the national draft fast approaching, the idea is only being explored at this point in time and nothing is set in stone.
A second trade window could open the door for players like Josh Dunkley and Jackson Hately to move clubs, who weren't dealt to their nominated destinations during the exchange period.
