Port Adelaide has pounced to lock away emerging key forward Jack Whitlock to a five-year deal.
Whitlock, a 20-year-old Shepparton product, is now tied to the Power through to the end of 2032.
He looms as a key pillar in Port's future, particularly given the speculation surrounding the future of fellow key forward Mitch Georgiades.
Whitlock was already contracted for next year, before the extension.
The 200cm Whitlock has kicked 19 goals from 18 games this season, including three-goal efforts against West Coast and North Melbourne.
He was taken at pick 33 in the 2024 national draft, the club's second selection that year.
“I'm so happy to have signed for Port Adelaide long-term,” Whitlock said.
“I've felt welcomed here since day one, and I'm loving my time at the club.
“To be given the opportunity to play at AFL level is such a privilege, and something I definitely don't take for granted. I always want to learn more so I can improve my game and contribute to as much on-field success as possible.
“I really believe in this group and where we are going.”
Port Adelaide list manager Jason Cripps said Whitlock was an important part of the club's future.
“His athleticism, marking ability and smarts around goals are rare qualities to find in a key position player so young," Cripps said.
“We look forward to seeing him develop over the coming years, and have high hopes for the player he can become.”
