The AFL is understood to have confirmed key dates for the 2022 off-season, including the trade and free agent periods and the National Draft.

AFL Media have stated that clubs were made aware of the league's off-season schedule on Monday, beginning with the trade period on Monday, October 3 - nine days after the 2022 AFL Grand Final.

The trade window will run until Wednesday, October 12, concluding at 7:30pm (AEST).

During this window, the free agency period will run from Friday October 7 to Monday, October 10.

The National Draft will continue its recent form of being held over two nights, with the first evening consisting of just the opening round of selections before the following night will conclude any remaining picks.

Night one will be held on Monday, November 28, before proceeding the following night in an event that will likely be held at a venue for clubs and prospects to attend, unlike recent years which have been heavily impacted by COVID.

The Rookie Draft and Pre-Season Draft will be held on Wednesday, November 30.

AFL clubs will have between the end of the trade period and November 15 to make pick swaps ahead of the National Draft.
