The AFL has ticked of Collingwood's request for Pies icon Scott Pendlebury to don a gold No.10 in his game record-breaking match.
The Pies, league and Pendlebury have worked through ways in which to honour the champion when he notches up game 433, topping North Melbourne legend Brent Harvey.
The smooth-moving Pie is set to break the record in Round 11 against West Coast after coach Craig McRae confirmed that Pendlebury will miss Thursday's match with Hawthorn.
Pendlebury is expected to return against Geelong the following week, equalling Harvey on 432 games, but is tipped to miss the trip to Sydney.
Collingwood will return to the MCG on Saturday, May 23 to face the Eagles in a twilight fixture, which will be favourable to the Magpie Army.
The gold numbers, according to AFL Media, will be the first of its kind in the competition.
In the NRL, Alex Johnson broke the games record in March, and wore a special guernsey featuring a gold No.2 to celebrate the milestone.
The MCG is expected to rake in well over 90,000 for the game record-breaking match, and could rival some of the biggest home and away crowds, which have largely fallen on Anzac Day between the Pies and Bombers.
Richmond champion Dustin Martin had 92,311 watch him raise the bat for 300 matches against Hawthorn, with the Tigers going down by eight goals.
Pendlebury can expect to eclipse that figure and rival the likes of the 2023 Anzac Day crowd of 95,179.
The biggest home and away match was between Melbourne and the Pies in 1958, when 99,256 walked through the gates of the MCG.
