The AFL has announced a 40-player squad for the inaugural AFLW season, with the undefeated Brisbane Lions leading the way with nine representatives.

Carlton’s Darcy Vescio – who was the leading goal kicker over the course of the season with 14 – made the squad, while Melbourne’s Daisy Pearce and Karen Paxman, who led the league in average disposals with 21.9 and 21.7 respectively, both made the 40 as well.
