Adelaide is set to host its first SA Freeze in the fight against motor neurone disease (MND) in Round 13 at the Adelaide Oval.

Facing Richmond on Thursday, 6 June, the Crows will kick-start a big weekend for FIGHTMND which culminates the 10th anniversary of the Big Freeze at the MCG on the King's Birthday Monday.

Like the Big Freeze, the SA Freeze will feature a celebrity dunking as footy fans will be encouraged to help raise crucial funds for MND research and care initiative by purchasing the annual beanie.

Adelaide CEO Tim Silvers couldn't be more proud of taking action to help those affected by MND, supporting this year's theme ‘Don't Say. Do'.

“That's taken from the great Neale Daniher who says, 'It's not what you say, but what you do that matters', and we are thrilled to be doing our bit to help in the fight against this horrible disease,” Silvers said.

“We've all watched the Big Freeze event at the MCG grow into one of the highlights of the football calendar and we are confident not just footy fans but the broader community in Adelaide will get right behind it here as well.

“It's shaping up to be a massive weekend as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Big Freeze and we can't wait to kick-start it at Adelaide Oval on June 6.”

FightMND Director of Campaigns and daughter of Melbourne legend Neale Daniher, Bec, said the partnership with the Crows would bring researchers a step closer to a cure for the beast that is MND.

"We've fearlessly fought the Beast for 10 years, but there's more to do. We know that investing in research continues to be our best weapon but it's expensive and takes time," Daniher said.

"We are so grateful for the army of South Australians who continue to support the cause. Our fight is not over but we know that with every beanie sold and donation made, we are moving closer to the end goal of effective treatments and a cure.

“The Beast that is MND is getting nervous, we are fighting back. When Adelaide Oval turns blue, we are showing everyone who is impacted by MND that there are people in every corner of the nation helping to make a change.”

Adelaide will also launch an SA Freeze membership which includes a Big Freeze 10 Beanie, a reserved seat at the game and general admission access to another two Crows home games with 50 per cent of the Membership fees directly donated to FightMND.

In further support and awareness that is the beast MND, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre 'The Lume', has joined in on the act.

Known for its displays of immortal artist Leonardo Da Vinci, on King's Birthday, The Lume will be showing a virtual MCG to launch the 10th 'Big Freeze' event at the MCG.
