The 2023 SANFL fixture has been released, with the new campaign to kick off at Coopers Stadium between Norwood and Woodville-West Torrens on Friday, March 31.

That match will be among the headline acts for the opening weekend of the season, with a Port Adelaide vs Adelaide bout to come on the Saturday at Adelaide Oval as a curtain-raiser for the two clubs' AFL Showdown clash later that night.

South Adelaide and Central Districts, Sturt and Glenelg, and North Adelaide and West Adelaide will also go head-to-head respectively to commence their 2023 campaigns.

Round 2 will take a different shape, opening with Norwood and Sturt at Coopers Stadium on Thursday, April 6 before having four matches held on Good Friday.

The SANFL will then have a week's break due to the AFL Gather Round, before restarting the season across the ANZAC weekend, where five games will be played across four days from Saturday, April 22 to Tuesday, April 25.

That round will conclude with a grand final rematch between Norwood and North Adelaide on ANZAC Day.

The 18-round home and away season will conclude on Saturday, August 26, with finals to take place the following weekend. The 2023 SANFL Grand Final is scheduled for Sunday, September 24.

The annual State Game between South Australia and Western Australia will take place on Saturday, May 20 between Rounds 6 and 7, while a bye weekend will also be held between Rounds 15 and 16.

A 'Split Round' will take place in Round 10, seeing the five fixtures spread across two weekends in June, while the league has confirmed First Nations Round will be held across Rounds 11 and 12.

Times and dates for a majority of matches in the final eight rounds will be confirmed at a later date.
