10 important players out of contract at the end of the season

With the home-and-away season coming to an end, some big name players are still un-contracted for 2019. Here, we look at 10 of the biggest names (in no particular order) who are still without a club next season! Darcy Moore While it's been no secret the Sydney Swans have showed keen interest in the 200cm versatile key position gun, Moore has been running hot for his Magpies, and has shown potential at both ends of the ground. The son of Collingwood icon Peter arrived at Collingwood in 2015 and has cemented himself into the sides best 22. Moore's importance as key position cog will almost certainly rise in the next few years, as the Magpies position themselves among the league's best sides. (Photo by Quinn Rooney/Getty Images)[/caption] Andrew Gaff The competition star and gut-running machine has more than continued his outstanding form of 2017, when he lead the Eagles for total disposals for a third-straight year, averaging 29.7 a game. Having played every game, Gaff averages 30.6 in the 2018 season, and has taken his game to a whole level. The outstandingly consistent ball-winner last year finished sixth in the John Worsfold medal, and is no doubt poised to outright win it this season. Any club wanting the complete package midfielder will need to fork out something big in return, but it's Gaff's influence around the ground that will pay dividends. Polec's pace, coupled with his goalscoring ability stands as among the league's more underrated assets. Playing the majority of season 2017, following a couple of seasons with injury niggles, saw the running machine power through games, leading his Port Adelaide side in most metres gained during the course of the season. Lycett has fought to overcome knee surgery in late 2016, and shoulder surgery to return bigger and better than ever. Now that he has put all his concerns behind him, there's no doubt Lycett will build toward something special in coming seasons. The question remains whether he will remain the sole ruck at the Eagles, with star Nic Naitanui out indefinitely for the long haul. Clubs are circling around Lycett, with several requiring ruck services to fill their voids. (Photo by Paul Kane/Getty Images)[/caption] Jake Lloyd A core member of one of the league's strongest and most stingy defenses, 24-year-old Lloyd dominated in his first full season as backman, averaging 27 disposals per game, and leading the clubs rebound 50s count, the defensive-minded Swan tied for second in the Swans' 2017 best and fairest count. Always finding plenty of the ball, Lloyd is ranked 2nd in league total kicks, and 2nd in total rebound 50s per game. Offering endless versatility, his presence through defensive 50 will more than reassure any side's backline. Playing primarily as an aggressive inside midfielder in the Western Bulldogs' engine room, Wallis was assigned a number of run-with tasks. The father-son recruit appeared a ready-made leader when he strolled into the kennel, and while he's faced a plethora of challenges through his young career, he's worked manfully to overcome them. In 2018, the 25-year-old continued to develop his game, becoming a goalkicker when needed most. The mature-bodied clearance machine has proven he can match it with the best of them at the top level, however has been continually squeezed from the Tigers' premiership winning best 22. With the likes of Dion Prestia, Shaun Grigg and now in-form Kane Lambert certain Richmond starts, Miles can't be blamed if he wants to seek new horizons elsewhere. Viewed as a class above VFL level, the 26-year-old would seamlessly slot into most others sides' best 22. (Photo by Daniel Kalisz/Getty Images)[/caption] Luke Dahlhaus An integral member of the Western Bulldogs 2016 premiership winning team, Dahlhaus comes as an enticing prospect for his footballing scope and nous as both a ball-winning midfielder and an effective forward. His willingness, craftiness and persistence more often than not creates genuine opportunities for both him and his side. A natural instinct and smartness about him, Dahlhaus would ideally fit into a side ready and willing to take the game on at all costs. Coupled with a booming pin-point accurate right boot, the Suns veteran could be seeking all new opportunities under a new regime in 2019. Too good to be languishing in the reserves, Hall last year played 19 games, averaging an impressive 26 disposals, but has since been linked to a move from the Gold Coast. There is tonnes of upside to the 27-year-old, who, with a bigger role in the midfield at a new club, could get back to his damaging best. There is still a lot to be desired about his defensive game, however. This speaks to his reliability as a forward, ruckman and defender. In 2014, Roughead cemented himself the full-back spot, then was named vice-captain for the 2015 season. Moving forward, 2016 saw him moved into ruck, and playing 25 games through the season. Another integral member of the side which saw the Bulldogs lift their first premiership in 61 years - any side seeking a versatile key position prospect with exceptional leadership skills should be looking this way.
