West Coast premiership hero Dom Sheed has announced his retirement after 165 games and 12 seasons at the club.
Sheed is most known for his 2018 Grand Final heroics, kicking the match-winning goal from an impossible angle to bury Collingwood in an extraordinary comeback at the MCG.
The local talent was drafted with Pick 11 in the 2013 National Draft, and was a consistent contributor under Adam Simpson.
โIt has been an absolute privilege to represent the West Coast Eagles, and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity this great footy club gave a skinny kid from Kalgoorlie,โ Sheed said.
โTo play for the Club I grew up supporting has been a dream come true, but the relationships you build and memories you share from footy are what I will cherish most from my time in the game.
โThere are so many people I would like to thank for helping me along the journey, first and foremost my amazing family.
โIt hasn't always been easy. There's been plenty of ups and downs, and to finish up without being able to play alongside the boys this year due to injury has been tough.
โBut my family have been there for me every step of the way, and I can't thank my parents and my wife Brooke enough.
โThere are too many other people to name โ coaches, teammates and staff - who I will get around to thank in the coming days and weeks.
โBut I want to take the opportunity to send a special shout out to the members and supporters.
โI honestly believe West Coast has the most passionate fans in the AFL and they have supported me every step of the way, so thank you for everything.โ
Sheed debuted in 2014, and played 10 games in his maiden season before playing a full campaign in a grand final season for the Eagles the following year.
The 30-year-old's career hit a peak between 2017 and 2021, featuring in 102 matches and four finals series, including the 2018 triumph.
Aside from his match-winning goal, Sheed collected 32 disposals and came third in the Norm Smith Medal voting, where teammate Luke Shuey claimed the honours.
However, injuries would begin to mount up for the premiership star following the COVID-19-impacted seasons, playing just one solitary match in 2022.
Sheed then added a further 23 matches to his name, but wasn't seen in 2025 after rupturing his ACL in February.
Sheed joins fellow premiership hero Jeremy McGovern as early departures from the club after he was medically retired due to multiple concussions throughout his career.
Liam Ryan, Elliot Yeo, Liam Duggan, Jamie Cripps and Tom Cole are the remaining 2018 flag recipients at the club.
