A non-call from the umpires late into Saturday's thriller between Gold Coast and Adelaide is likely to garner ongoing media attention in the wake of the Suns' one-point victory.
A Crows kick inside 50 inside the final two minutes of the match landed in the lap of Izak Rankine, who looked to hold the ball before opponent Sam Collins crashed into the Adelaide star.
The ball spilled loose soon after Collins wrapped his arms around Rankine, with the Crows small then brought to ground without possession.
Rankine pleaded with the nearby umpire as no whistle was blown, with the Suns exiting defensive 50 with the next disposal.
Were the Crows robbed of a shot at goal in the dying stages of the match?

The Crows would manage another forward 50 entry before the final siren, however failed to add to their score as the two sides sat one point apart in the dying stages.
The siren soon sounded to hand Adelaide their first loss of the season, while the Suns' undefeated record remains intact after three matches.
Coach Matthew Nicks was quizzed on the non-decision post-game, believing Rankine should have been given the chance for a shot on goal.
"My version of it is that if he didn't mark it, he was tackled in a marking contest," Nicks said.
"We made so many mistakes in that game. Things happen"
The result saw Gold Coast jump into second on the ladder immediately after the win, taking Adelaide's place, with the Crows dropping to third.
Both sides can drop down the ladder before the end of Round 4 depending on the results relating to Brisbane, GWS and St Kilda this weekend.
As per my “call” with respect a the coaches ‘not understanding the umpiring” – it was a one-way affair with the crows losing the game due to a number of umpiring decision (or “non-decisions).
It’s worth noting that immediately after this mark (which was for a shot on goal) was not “allowed”, there was:
(A “holding the ball decision” also not “allowed” (which would have been another shot on goal) – but wait…..
Moments after that there was a high contact (Thilthorp kicked the head) that was also not allowed (another shot on gaol not permitted)….
So what this article calls as the one “incident” was actually THREE shots on goals that were not permitted by the “umpires”….
… this is on top of:
Gold Coast getting at leats 3 goals form “dubious” free kicks wothing kicking distance of goal AND
a free kick count of 25 (Gold Coast) and 14 (Adelaide Crows).
THERE IS NOTHING “CONFUSING”…. THERE IS, HOWEVER, PLENTY THAT IS QUITE CERTAINLY “GAME FIXING”.
…. I wonder why umpires get “abused”…..
