The monster deal Collingwood offered NBA prospect Alex Condon has been revealed, with the Victorian powerhouse putting a five-year offer in front of the talented athlete.

The Pies have long been linked with Condon, who barracks for the black and white, but have quickly become resigned to the fact that he's pursuing basketball in the US.

The 20-year-old has been a revelation for the Florida Gators in college, and looms as a potential late first-round, or early second-round NBA pick on June 26 in New York.

Collingwood had offered Condon the monster contract under the Category B rookie rules late in 2024, should his basketball dreams fall short.

"Alex didn't go in the AFL draft because he went into the AIS on a scholarship in his draft year," Condon's father told SEN WA Mornings.

"He spent 18 months there, but the AFL clubs were very keen on him potentially in the future if things didn't work out in America.

"Collingwood, who've been absolutely fantastic, have stepped up and given him a five-year Category B rookie contract.

"This was negotiated a couple of years ago with Collingwood, and it's a bit of an out-of-the-box one because he is an Australian boy, and Category B contracts are normally for people from other sports and from other countries, so it took a while to sort of ratify it.

"But it's come through and both parties have signed it, but it was on the premise that things didn't work out in America in regard to the NBA."

Condon announced he made his declaration for the NBA Draft via his Instagram profile on Wednesday, in the hope of being selected in the top-level basketball league.

The category B rookie spot is reserved for players who meet specific criteria. In Condon's case, his eligibility would come from having not registered in an Australian Football competition for three years immediately before inclusion on the Rookie List.

The basketballer boosted his NBA chances with a dominant performance and NCAA championship for Florida, becoming the sixth Australian to achieve the feat.
