Richmond forward Jack Riewoldt will today be preparing for a month of rehab after scans revealed a fracture of the radius and a ruptured ligament in his right wrist.

The reigning Coleman-medallist sustained the injury after landing heavily on his right arm, when he flew for a marking contest in the second quarter of the Tigers’ Thursday night clash with Collingwood.

While avoiding surgery, Riewoldt will be required to wear a splint for approximately two weeks to stabilise the wrist, with Richmond General Manager of Football Neil Balme appreciative that the damage wasn’t more sinister.

“While we’re disappointed that Jack will be unavailable for a period of time, we’re fortunate that his injury wasn’t more severe,” Balme told richmondfc.com.au.

Riewoldt remained positive following scans on Friday morning.

“It’s obviously sore,” he told reporters.

“I had a chat to (Collingwood defender) Lynden Dunn while I was in there, so I could be in a much worse position.

“There’s obviously guys at the moment that are struggling with major knee injuries, but it is what it is.”

Tom Lynch will likely line up as the sole tall in Richmond’s forward line when they take on Greater Western Sydney at GIANTS Stadium in round three.
