It's an honour that always drums up water cooler chat and incites comment section fracas'.
Each year's All-Australian team is designed to reward individual excellence and one's play, relative to those who are deployed in the same position.
While it's a lineup usually littered with the game's biggest names, lesser lights who chart a path to a blazer each year make for some of the best stories.
Who are a few doing just that, with this season now beyond its halfway junction? Take a look!
John Noble
This former Pie has had an understandable chip on his shoulder since cruelly missing out on the black and white's 2023 triumph, and the landscape has recently been treated to what might just be Noble's final form. What a ways he's come since being snared by the Pies in the 2019 Mid-Season Draft!
The halfback is averaging the most disposals of his career, while setting a new high watermark for efficiency. The clangers that were once an unfortunate hallmark of his play have been cleaned up too, with the South Australian averaging the fewest miscues per game of his career.
He's ranked in the elite for rebound 50s, and is inside the league's top six for metres gained. He kickstarts everything for Damien Hardwick's side, and is a real worker bee. His name will likely go into a hat with those of Lachie Ash, Bailey Dale and a handful of others when the committee meet to determine their halfback line.
