In landmark news for Tasmanian football, the Herald Sun believe VFL clubs have been informed a Tasmanian side will be re-introduced into the competition as early as the 2021 season.
With chatter increasing over the past few months regarding the potential to see Tasmania have its own AFL team, the step to have a side from the Apple Isle back in the VFL is certainly a positive one.
Not only that, but Tasmania are set to have more of a say in the TAC Cup as well, with the state to have a team playing in the competition for a good chunk of the season, potentially as early as next year.
Tasmania did previously have a team in the VFL, as the Tassie Devils lasted from 2001-2008 before they decided to pull out and focus more on the TSL (Tasmanian State League).
