Sydney veteran and soon to be retired premiership player, Ted Richards has been suspended for one week following an incident in the NEAFL.

Richards has accepted a one game ban for engaging in rough conduct with Brock Aston from the Brisbane Lions' NEAFL side.

The incident, which took place in the opening quarter of the match, was graded as careless, with medium impact.

The Swans reserves, who are currently on top of the ladder, thumped the Lions 24.16 (160) to 3.7 (25).

Ben McGlynn did his chances of a recall to the senior side no harm, finishing with 32 disposals and one goal, while Richards finished with 12 disposals, six marks and two goals.

Richards, 33, will retire at the end of the year, after last week announcing that season 2016 will be his last.

He has played 261 AFL games, including the 2012 premiership with the Swans.
