Gold Coast has appointed former Saint Justin Koschitzke as the club's specialist forwards coach for the remainder of the 2019 season.

According to Fox Sports, Koschitzke has moved up to Byron Bay and will work with the club on a part-time basis.

The Suns drafted young key forwards Jack Lukosius and Ben King inside the top 10 in 2018, while also signing VFL forward Josh Corbett.

Gold Coast's head of football Jon Haines spoke to Fox Sports about the move, citing Koschitzke's experience as a key factor in bringing him to the club.

“We’ve obviously got a fair crew of emerging key forwards so he fits exactly what we need. He has a great capacity to teach, a great way with young people and great credibility in the game,” Haines told foxsports.com.au on Wednesday.

“He was a high draft pick himself so he understands that challenge and has dealt with that himself.

“We’ve already seen he has a lot of empathy and care for people and a high level of awareness. And as soon as we mentioned to Jack and Ben and Pete their eyes just lit up.”
