Retired Port Adelaide forward Charlie Dixon has landed at the local football level for the 2025 season, signing with Hills Football League side Lobethal in South Australia.

Dixon called time on his 221-game career at the end of 2024, announcing his retirement after 14 years in the system with Gold Coast and Port Adelaide.

The Cairns product started his career with the Suns as an inaugural member of the AFL's 17th club, famously kicking the club's first-ever goal back in 2011 against Carlton.

He would play 65 games for the Queensland club before seeking a move to South Australia, landing at Alberton at the end of 2015.

Dixon tallied 156 games for the SA club, leading the Power's goalkicking in three separate seasons to end his club haul at 263 majors - good for fifth all-time in the club's AFL history.

The 34-year-old is now set to continue his football journey in the HFL, linking up with Lobethal as a star recruit for the local SA side.

"Lobethal Football Club is beyond excited to welcome former AFL gun Charlie Dixon to the Tigers for the 2025 HFL season," a club post read.

"With over 200 AFL games under his belt for Gold Coast and Port Adelaide plus 357 AFL goals - Charlie brings elite forward-line firepower, dominant ruck ability, and unmatched leadership to our club.

"A proven goal-kicker and contested marking beast, he's been a key figure in some of Port's biggest moments and is known for his physicality, passion, and team-first attitude.

"More than just a star player, Charlie is a top bloke with incredible character, and we can't wait to see him in the yellow and black."

Lobethal finished sixth on the HFL A Grade ladder in 2024, recording six wins from their 16 home and away games.

The Tigers' first game of the coming season is scheduled for Saturday, April 12 against Mt Lofty.
