Melbourne have offered Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott a three-year deal in the hopes of luring the clever forward away from the Magpies.

Elliott played 16 games this season, where he kicked 11 goals in the Pies' final four matches of 2019 and was ranked number seven in the AFL for tackles inside 50 per match this year.

The young forward has had a history of injury problems that have limited his output over recent times, which involved missing the entire 2016 and 2018 seasons due to injury.

Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney told Telstra AFL Trade Radio that he expected a decision from Elliott soon.

"He's weighing up all the options that he's got and he's a quality player. He's obviously had an injury-interrupted career thus far but …he's at a very strong club and they've had a lot of success at Collingwood as well. I'm sure we'll find out something about that in the next few days," Mahoney said.

When asked, Mahoney confirmed the length of his club's offer.

"Ours is a three-year deal," Mahoney said.
