Former AFL legends Shane Crawford and James Hird could lead a new-look footy show on Channel Nine, reports the Herald Sun.
The duo pitched a round-in-review Sunday night program to Channel Nine that is believed to impressed the network.
The Hawthorn and Essendon greats are expected to be joined by Gold FM breakfast radio host Christian O’Connell.
Crawford expressed his keenness on Saturday to host such a program.
“I have been saying for a long time that I would love to do a show like that,” he told the Herald Sun.
“I have been chipping away at a Sunday night show for a while and maybe now is the time to really push for it.
“But I think first and foremost we should celebrate 26 years of The Footy Show, which is an amazing run and a great achievement. I am really proud to have been a part of that show.”
Channel Nine ended The Footy Show's 26-year tenure during the week, but is keen to remain in the footy market.
It is believed that the earliest the show could go to air is July.
