Port Adelaide is hopeful that midfielder Ollie Wines and defender Aliir Aliir will be available for selection next week against Melbourne after missing Saturday's loss to Sydney.

The pair are tending to respective knee injuries from the week prior, and were given time to overcome the injury as the competition turns toward the final stretch of the season.

Power coach Ken Hinkley says Aliir is more likely than Wines to take his place in the senior side against Carlton on Thursday.

"Right here, right now I'd say, very best, 50-50," Hinkley said of Wines' likelihood of returning for next Thursday's home clash against Carlton.

"Aliir probably a little bit better than that."

In-form defender Miles Bergman will be a watch throughout the week in anticipation of a five-day turnaround.

Bergman, who has been carrying a shoulder niggle throughout the year, injured it once again to which Hinkley dismissed, saying "there shouldn't be too much to worry about".

Port Adelaide recruit Jack Lukosius is eyeing a return to football next week at any level after a troubling knee injury has sidelined him since Round 2.

The loss to the Swans sees Hinkley's men sit two games outside the top eight, with multiple tough games to come.

Clashes against Brisbane, Hawthorn, Adelaide, Geelong, Fremantle and Gold Coast pose as one of the hardest stretches in the league.
