Some notes and takeaways from Friday’s practice match between Collingwood and Melbourne at Olympic Park.
-Youngster Max Lynch did the majority of the ruck work in Brodie Grundy’s absence, while Mason Cox and Jordan Roughhead pinch-hitted from full forward and fullback.
-Jamie Elliott booted two goals in the first half, while Ben Reid also moved well up forward.
-Brayden Maynard took most of the Pies’ kick ins and was busy across half back.
-Rookie Isaac Quaynor came on in the second half and had an immediate impact with a chase down tackle and nice run on the wing.
-Darcy Moore looked solid in defence.
-Braydon Preuss was the most dangerous forward target on either team, booting two goals with a real presence about him.
-Despite reports that they are keen to plot him at full forward, Max Gawn spent 80 per cent of the game in the ruck.
-Christian Petracca split his time between midfield and forward and looked dangerous as always.
