Sydney midfielder Taylor Adams has re-injured his hamstring, scans on the weekend revealed.
It is a brutal blow for Adams, who has endured a torrid run with his body in recent years, and one made particularly telling given his contract status, which expires at the end of the year.
This most recent aggravation of his troublesome hamstring will likely necessitate a more cautious approach to his rehabilitation than had been exercised previously, lessening further the amount of games Adams' will have at his disposal to push his case for another contract.
In the pre-season, the 32-year-old was assaulted when trying to leave a Sydney nightclub, and was knocked unconscious as a result. It was the latest twist in a tale unfortunately characterised by unavailability.
In recent years, his body has continuously failed him, infamously costing him a place in Collingwood's 2023 premiership triumph.

In search of a fresh start, Adams headed back to the Harbour City, taking up a post with the Swans - bitter rivals of the club that drafted the Geelong Falcons product, the GWS Giants.
There, he has managed just the 23 games from two completed seasons, and is yet to feature in his third. Behind significant, blue-chip talent at the Swans, even when healthy, Adams has struggled for top-line minutes, being utilised in a sub capacity four times, and being played out of his preferred position many more.
