Hawthorn have made a late change to their side that is set to face Carlton at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

Hawks vice captain Liam Shiels will miss the game with a hip injury, and has been replaced in the side by Irish defender Conor Glass.

“Liam copped a ‘corkie’ in the hip in last week’s game,” Hawthorn's General Manager of Football Jason Burt told hawthornfc.com.au.

“We gave him every opportunity to get up, but unfortunately he’s still not 100 per cent, so we didn’t want to take the risk.

“Conor has acquitted himself well since making his debut against Fremantle.

“He was somewhat unlucky not to be selected in the initial side this week, so we’re confident he can come in and play his role.”

It will be the first match Shiels misses in 2017, while Glass comes in for his fifth senior game after making his debut against Fremantle in round 18.

Carlton will enter the match as selected.
