Hawthorn forward Cyril Rioli is reportedly back in Melbourne, after 7 News journalist Tom Browne reported the story on Thursday night.

Rioli, who left for Darwin on June 12, has returned to Melbourne, but won't be selected for the Hawks' round 15 clash with the Giants on Saturday night.

When the four-time premiership Hawk went back home, Hawthorn's GM of football Graham Wright told the club's website they wouldn't rush him back, and would give him the time he needed.

“Cyril expressed to us his desire to return to Darwin with his wife Shannyn and be with their family,” Wright said earlier this month.

“Physically, Cyril is in great condition, and potentially could have played for us in the coming weeks. However, we acknowledge his desire to be with family.

“Our priority at Hawthorn is our people and we ask that Cyril’s privacy be respected at this time.”

Rioli has not played AFL football since Round 4.
