St Kilda forward Paddy McCartin has departed for the United States on Monday, and will seek help for his ongoing concussion issues.

According to The Age, McCartin will head to Chicago and spend time at the Neurologic Wellness Institute, a facility that specialises in neurological rehabilitation, including work and management on concussion.

The 2014 number one draft pick hasn't played any football this season, and has managed just 35 games across his career.

He last played in the pre-season, where he suffered his eighth concussion since 2014.
