Melbourne forward Jesse Hogan has suffered a hamstring injury and will miss the second half of the Demons' important clash with Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday.

Hogan picked up the injury midway through the second quarter, and finished the first half on the bench in some discomfort.

The injury adds to a frustrating year for Hogan, who has had a number of setbacks so far in 2017.

Hogan's was suspended for two matches in round two, missed round six due to his father's passing, missed seven games after being diagnosed with testicular cancer, and broke his collarbone in round 19 against North Melbourne which saw him miss another fortnight of football.

In his return last weekend, Hogan starred with six goals against Brisbane, but couldn't manage a goal in the first away against Collingwood on Saturday.
