Geelong's Cam Guthrie will be sidelined for a fortnight after suffering a mild calf stain during the Cats' opening pre-season match against Hawthorn on Friday night.

Guthrie managed just two disposals before being taken off at the 20 minute mark of the first quarter and did not return to the field.

However, it was better news for Guthrie's young brother, Zach, who collected 24 disposals in his first game in the blue and white hoops after he was recruited with pick No.33 in the 2016 Rookie Draft.

Meanwhile, Lachie Henderson suffered a corked hip, but is a chance to play in Geelong's next JLT Community Series match against Adelaide on March 5.

Captain Joel Selwood is expected to return for the side's next match after he was not selected for Friday night's fixture.

Geelong has a week off this weekend, before matches against the Crows and Bombers to round out the pre-season campaign.
