Young Lions midfielder Jarrod Berry could be sidelined for up to two months as he undergoes surgery to remove a cyst on his knee.

The 21-year old was experiencing knee soreness after his side's round nine win over Adelaide, causing him to sit out the weekend's loss to Fremantle.

Surgery was deemed the best long-term option for the youngster.

“After discussions with our medical team and Jarrod, surgery was agreed upon as the best solution going forward,” Brisbane GM of Football David Noble told lions.com.au.

“With Jarrod having a previous Baker’s cyst, we have some previous information on how his body reacts to these and used that information to help us make an informed decision.

“We anticipate that his return would be around six weeks but will have a clearer picture once he has his surgery.”

Berry was enjoying an impressive season, averaging 20.8 disposals and 3.7 tackles per game.

Earlier in the year he re-signed with the club until the end of 2024.
