The Ben Cousins-Chris Judd pairing that had West Coast and football fans' hearts pumping in the mid-2000s were back together at the weekend to celebrate the Eagles' 2006 premiership.

While the 20-year reunion couldn't celebrate in style as West Coast were upset by Richmond at home in a battle of the cellar dwellers, it did offer the opportunity for Cousins, who now works as a sports presenter for 7News Perth, to sit down in a one-on-one interview with Judd.

Prior to the interview commencing, the pair were caught in a hot mic moment - of the good variety - as they spoke freely of their newfound obsession with West Coast defender Reuben Ginbey.

"The Boy" as he is affectionately called out west, has been a shining light for the Eagles as he has turned into a one-on-one beast. Standing at 191cm, Ginbey's physical attributes allow him to lock down forwards both big and small and he has arguably pushed wunderkind Harley Reid to be the club's best player.

Cousins and Judd agreed, as they appeared to be enamoured with Ginbey during the 7News interview.

Judd: (Ginbey's) one on one stuff is elite.

Cousins: He is fighting outside of his weight division. He could play on the Wizard (Nick Watson).

J: Mate, he is a good player.

C: Have you heard about the way he runs and that?

J: Nah.

C: His times...

J: They really good are they?

C: Easily the best 2km runner (at the club).

J: Is he really? Because he is heavy.

C: Under six minutes, he is a freak.

J: And he is quick too.

C: And strong.

J: He can play.

C: Yeah, he is really good. He is tough, mentally strong and the fact he is such a good runner.

J: Yeah, it's not often you get, because his closing speed is elite. You don't usually get (key defenders) that quick and then they can do a 2km like he can as well.

Playing in a weak West Coast side, whose defence is consistently under siege, Ginbey has restricted the impact of premier key forwards such as Richmond's Tom Lynch (one goal), Geelong's Jeremy Cameron (three) and Fremantle's Josh Treacy (one) over the past month.

Having been trialled in the midfield early in his career, Ginbey has proven he will be the rock of West Coast's backline for years to come.

Ginbey has played 71 games since being taken with pick nine in the 2022 National Draft.
