The drought is over for Richmond. After 287 days, the Tigers were able to belt out their famous song again after a tight victory on the road against the West Coast Eagles on Saturday.

Richmond's ravaged injury list grew (now up to 15 players) only a handful of minutes into the match, with veteran Dion Prestia leaving the ground with a calf injury and didn't return.

Tigers coach Adem Yze said Prestia still impacted the match following his injury and revealed a possible glimpse into what the future may hold for the 33-year-old.

"There's no doubt (Prestia's) going to miss a little bit of footy," Yze said in the post-game press conference. "We have a bye at Round 13, so worst-case scenario, it's hopefully only up to that mid-season break.

"He has gone out of the game within five minutes, but then he had an impact on the bench with our younger players. He has got an eye for coaching. He still has a little bit of footy left in him, but the impact he had on today's game, in a different way, was outstanding.

"Listening to the way he was talking to our players, educating and going through vision, it gave me so much confidence that I didn't have to do it, I could just put my arm around players and make sure that their energy and fight was at the level we required.

"Unfortunate that he has tweaked his calf, but he had a really important impact for us throughout the game."

Young guns Sam Cumming (23 disposals and six tackles) and Kane McAuliffe (28 disposals and a goal) stepped up in the Tigers' depleted midfield.

Yze said throughout his years as an assistant and senior coach, this win ranks highly.

"The boys travelled over the day before us, I could see it in their eye in the captain's run and in the team meeting how engaged they were being," he said.

"We are dealing with a fair bit off the field with availability and things like that.

"This would easily be one of the best wins I have been involved in because of that. Like I said, we are dealing with a lot with our availability, but you wouldn't know it with our spirit and energy."
