Tayla Harris is reportedly set to sign a contract extension with Melbourne, securing her future at the contending club.

Harris, who joined the Demons from Carlton for the 2022 season, initially signed a one-year deal trying her to Casey Fields.

The 25-year-old played 12 games in her first season as a Demon, kicking 18 goals and earning an All Australian spot as Melbourne rose to second place on the ladder and secured a place in the grand final.

Harris spoke to womens.afl, admitting that she and the Demons are focused on going one step further next season and winning the premiership after a heartbreaking 13-point loss to Adelaide in the grand final last season.

"Being in a Grand Final in the first place is something not many people get to experience. In this case, 12 other teams weren't there, so we feel privileged in the first place to be there," Harris said.

"We were absolutely hell-bent on making the most of it, and not being happy with just being there. We tried our best, but we fell short. It's footy, the sun came up the next day and we move on. We're ready to attack it next season and I feel like with that experience, we're much better for it.

"I hope we keep our core group together and I'm confident we will, and we can keep going forward. All of us, I can confidently say, are absolutely single-minded in our pursuit of winning a premiership next season.

"I have no doubt that Mick will have the same approach he had this year, that we're not shying away from the fact we want to win. Of course you do, everyone wants to, but we're in a phase of our football club that we can. We see that window, and we're going to take it."
