Gold Coast list manager Craig Cameron has made the club's stance on in-demand youngster Bailey Humphrey extremely clear, ruling out the forward from any potential move to Victoria.
Humphrey's situation has evolved rapidly in recent days, initially being linked to multiple Victorian clubs, including Melbourne, who are set to engage in trade talks with the Suns regarding superstar Christian Petracca.
An unexpected twist occurred when it was revealed that Humphrey had met with the Demons and Magpies on Friday, and it was reported on Monday that the 21-year-old had also spoken to Hawthorn, one of the four reported clubs with vying interest in his talents.
Many expected Humphrey to be a key element of a Christian Petracca trade package, but Cameron has doubled down on Gold Coast's commitment to him seeing out his contract, which expires in 2028.
"It's unusual [the situation], but we won't be trading Bailey Humphrey," Cameron told the media on Monday.
"It doesn't matter how many clubs he meets; we won't be trading him. He understands he's contracted for three more years."
Cameron was quick to point out that he understands the growing element of player empowerment in the league, but highlighted the control clubs still hold over contracted players.
"It's the times we're in... I think we've seen a change in the landscape," Cameron said.
"This cohort of players likes to explore their options. But the thing about having a player contracted is that it sits with the club to make a decision.
"Bailey understands his contract. He understands, no uncertain terms, [he will play for Gold Coast next season]."
