Fremantle AFLW forward Mikayla Morrison has been ruled out of the 2023 season after rupturing the ACL in her right knee during a training incident.
The news is particularly unfortunate for Morrison, as this latest setback comes after she recovered from an ACL tear she sustained in her left knee in 2022.
Morrison was drafted by the Dockers in the 2020 AFLW Draft, earning a Rising Star nomination against Carlton in Round 6, 2022 when she had 13 disposals, five tackles, and three goals.

Fremantle's Head of AFLW Bob Murphy expressed the club's sorrow for Morrison, who is not set to undergo a second knee reconstruction in as many seasons.
"It's devastating news for Mikayla, the group, and the club more broadly, particularly after the fact that she had recovered from an ACL on the other knee and put in her 12-month rehab," Murphy told fremantlefc.com.au.
"We'll support her as she recovers and get her back out on the field and in the purple."
AFLW players returned to training on May 29, ahead of the new season which starts on the first weekend of September.
