The official start of the 2025 Free Agency and Trade Period has begun, with plenty of stars of the competition set to join rival clubs.

Eagles captain's move imminent

Oscar Allen is set to join Brisbane officially as early as today, with the Eagles expecting to receive Pick 2 in the draft as compensation for his departure.

According to AFL Media's Cal Twomey, paperwork for the Eagles captain has been lodged. 

The free agency window is set to close on Friday, October 10, and Allen seemingly is an integral part of Brisbane's retool toward a three-peat in 2026.

Saints, Suns lodge paperwork for Flanders trade

Sam Flanders is set to become a Saint after Gold Coast and St Kilda lodged the paperwork to complete a trade for his talents.

St Kilda are trading Pick 7 to Gold Coast, which is reported to become a central element in a potential Christian Petracca deal later this trade period.

Demons receive pick for McVee, create mega four-club deal

Fremantle has successfully acquired Melbourne's Judd McVee for Pick 23, with the deal to be officially confirmed by the AFL this morning following paperwork being lodged.

The Dockers landed the selection via a three-club trade with Brisbane and West Coast, which saw Brandon Starcevich land at the Eagles.

Starcevich lands in the west

Brisbane dual premiership player Brandon Starcevich has been traded to West Coast in a three-club trade, with Fremantle helping facilitate a move.

The Lions received Picks 16, 44 and 50.

West Coast received Starcevich, as well as Pick 12, 33 and 52.

Fremantle acquired Pick 19, 23 and 46.
